كيف يمكن للحامل الحفاظ على صحتها في أيام الحر

With the rising temperatures in the summer season, pregnant women face additional challenges that require special attention to maintain their health and the health of their fetus.

Experts have warned against exposure to extreme heat during the summer, as it may increase the risk of dehydration, fatigue, and other complications that threaten the health of both the pregnant woman and her fetus.

Tips to enhance the health of pregnant women in the heat:

  • Drink plenty of water: Keeping the body hydrated is essential, so make sure to drink water regularly throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty, to avoid dehydration that may cause cramps or pregnancy problems.
  • Choose light and cotton clothes: Wearing loose-fitting clothes made of natural fabrics like cotton helps to cool the body, absorb sweat, and reduce the feeling of heat.
  • Avoid direct sunlight: Try to stay in the shade or air-conditioned places during peak hours (from 11 am to 4 pm). If you have to go out, use a sunscreen specially made for pregnant women, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses.
  • Eat light and frequent meals: Heavy meals may increase body heat, so choose healthy and light meals rich in vegetables and fruits, and avoid salty or spicy foods that increase thirst.
  • Engage in light exercises at moderate times: If you are used to physical activity, it can be done in the morning or evening when temperatures are lower, and avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
  • Monitor signs of heat stress: Symptoms such as dizziness, headache, rapid heartbeat, severe fatigue, or nausea require immediate cessation and seeking a cool place and drinking water.
